Pro-Ject is expanding its lineup of premium, design-forward turntables with the introduction of its latest model, the Debut EVO 2, a characteristically minimalist record player with a pleasantly surprising not-so-eye-watering price.

Handmade in Europe, the Debut EVO 2 is a belt-driven turntable that features a straight 8.6-inch single-piece carbon tonearm. It comes pre-installed with a Danish-made Pick it MM EVO cartridge which has been pre-adjusted and is ready to go out of the box, as well as having low-friction precision tonearm bearings. The turntable features a 12-inch platter made from die-cast aluminum – unlike its predecessor’s steel platter construction – with bearings made of stainless steel in bronze bushing; the platter weighs in at a solid 3.75 lbs (1.7 kg) and benefits from a TPE damping ring on its underside to help with a smoother playback and listening experience. It also features height-adjustable metal feet so users can adjust the turntable to fit their space or mood, and electronic speed control that can quickly flick between 33rpm and 45rpm.

Since being founded in 1991, the Austrian brand has made a name for itself by designing some of the sleekest looking record players around and the Debut EVO 2 does not disappoint in this sense. It is being offered in 10 different finishes that include nine hand-painted options in various colors, as well as a non-painted option that sees a real walnut veneer being applied to the turntable instead. Each turntable comes will also come with its own dust cover.

The Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 is available now via the brand’s website and select retailers priced at $699 USD.
